The Judges Bench used to be a small family owned grocery store. It’s located near the original Howard County Court House, a small stone building at the corner of the parking lot on Main Street and Ellicott Mills Drive. During the summer before air conditioning has been invented, the exhausted judges would come across the street and enjoy cold beverages on the benches outside the grocery store. This is how the bar got its name- “The Judge’s Bench.”
Judges Bench is a great bar! The drinks are pretty good, the prices are descent, the staff are friendly, and is probably the cleanest bar in town. The crowd are a little older and compare to the other bars in Ellicott City. The place is also cramp and there’s live music every weekend.
The pub have good beer selection on tap as well as strong dark beers. The main level has the bar and a big screen TV with a sports game normally on. On the 2nd floor, they have couches, a big screen tv, and foosball tablet. The upstairs is definitely a great place to hangout with a group of friends and a great addition to the place. The place is not really a restaurant its more of a bar, so I would suggest getting dinner somewhere else.
