Niagara Falls is the most powerful waterfalls in the US. It is located on the Niagara River where Lake Erie drains on Lake Ontario. It composed of two major sections separated by Goat Island. It includes the Horseshoe Falls (Canadian side) and the American Falls (U.S.) and the smaller Bridal Veil Falls (U.S.) separated by Luna Island. The international boundary line was originally drawn through Horseshoe Falls in 1819, but the boundary has long been in dispute due to natural erosion and construction.
Niagara Falls was formed during the last ice age. Even though Niagara Falls is not exceptionally high compare to other waterfalls, it is very wide. It displaces more than 6 million cubic feet of water every minute. Niagara Falls is renowned for its beauty scenery and as a source of hydroelectric power. There are 5 major things to do in Niagara Falls. It’s included on the tourist package and cost around $30. It includes the Maiden of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, IMAX movie about Niagara Falls, the Aquarium and the Museum. You can get to all these different places using the trolley that runs throughout the day.
The Maiden of the Mist includes a ferry tour of the waterfall from the river. It’s an amazing ride you can feel the power of the falls, the turbulence of the river and get ready to get wet. :) The Cave of the Winds includes an elevator ride to the bottom of the falls. You can see where the seagulls lay their eggs on the side of the river. The boardwalk allows you to get up close and feel the power of the water. You can also get wet on one of the section and if you look up it looks like a 10 story tsunami is about to kill you. I even suggest checking this out at night when they put a spotlight on the falls. The Imax movie theater gives you the Native American perspective of the falls, the arrival of Europeans and the daring stunts people pulled some died while others miraculously survived. The Aquarium is also a neat place to check out, see some wildlife and buy cool souvenirs. Last but not the least, there are a few museums around the park that allows you to see geologic information and the history of the falls. Overall, It’s a nice and fun place to visit!
