Solomons is located in southern Maryland at the mouth of the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay. It is a small fishing village that has been inhabited since colonial times. Due to its location, Solomons Island was chosen as the training site for amphibious forces during World War II. Troops who trained here fought on D-Day at the beaches of Normandy, France. Solomons has a lot of historic buildings and attractions, making it a popular destination.
